Description
The lion, scientifically known as Panthera leo, is a large and majestic big cat found primarily in Africa, with a small population also residing in the Gir Forest of India. Known as the king of the jungle, the lion is often associated with strength, power, and bravery.
Lions are well-known for their distinctive features, including their muscular build and impressive manes. Males typically possess manes, which range in color from blond to dark brown, giving them a regal appearance. Adult male lions can weigh between 330 to 500 pounds (150 to 227 kilograms), while females are slightly smaller, weighing between 265 to 395 pounds (120 to 179 kilograms).
These social felines live in prides, which consist of related lionesses and their offspring, as well as a small number of male lions.
